“Leejah Bridges Street Culture & Afrobeats Soul On BOOKOFELIJAH”
Fast-rising Afrobeats artist Leejah steps into a defining new era with the release of his bold and emotionally charged EP, BOOK OF ELIJAH — a 7-track body of work rooted in street reality, faith, hustle, and transformation.
More than just an EP, BOOK OF ELIJAH arrives as a “street gospel” for listeners navigating survival, ambition, and the pursuit of better days. Built on rich Afrobeats production, indigenous Nigerian influence, and deeply relatable storytelling, the project positions Leejah as one of the emerging voices carrying authentic street culture into mainstream Afrobeats.
Born Babatunde Oluwagbemiga Akanni, Leejah represents a new generation of Afrobeats storytellers emerging from Lagos, Nigeria. Since breaking out in 2021, he has steadily built momentum through his fusion of Afrobeats, Yoruba street culture, and emotionally driven songwriting.
The EP opens with “People,” a reflective introduction that sets the emotional tone for the project, while records like “Dapada” and “Prodigal” explore themes of growth, pain, loyalty, and redemption through melodic storytelling and street-rooted lyricism. On “Connect,” Leejah leans into aspiration and human connection, while “Back To Sender” delivers a bold, spiritually charged amapiano closer filled with resilience and self-belief.

The project also includes previously released fan favorites “Better Days” and “New Chapter” — records that helped introduce listeners to Leejah’s emotionally honest songwriting and melodic street-inspired delivery.
Speaking on the project, Leejah describes BOOK OF ELIJAH as a reflection of personal experiences and the realities faced by everyday people striving for better lives while navigating hardship and uncertainty.
His earlier release “Applaudise / New Chapter” showcased both his introspective depth and energetic street appeal, helping him grow an organic audience and accumulate over 500,000 cumulative streams across digital platforms.
With BOOK OF ELIJAH,Leejah fully embraces his identity as a voice for the streets —delivering music that feels authentic to the trenches while remaining accessible to a global audience. As Afrobeats continues to evolve globally, the project introduces Leejah as an artist whose music carries both cultural depth and commercial potential, bridging grassroots narratives with the future of African music.
