LAGOS, NIGERIA — Emerging Afrobeats singer Felicia Saibu is introducing a distinctive sound to the music scene with “OBRASKETA,” a rock-infused record that blends energetic musical expression with chants celebrating African identity.
With the emphatic phrases “Obrasketa” and “I am African” woven into its lyrics, the song offers listeners an expressive and unconventional take on contemporary Afrobeats. Driven by its chant-led delivery and rock-inspired sonic direction, “OBRASKETA” introduces Felicia as an emerging voice exploring the boundaries of the genre while embracing the cultural identity at the heart of her music.
Born and raised in Lagos, Felicia brings a background shaped by experiences across different environments. She studied at the University of Lagos and the University of Edinburgh and spent five years in the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria. Her experiences across these environments provide context for her journey as an artist finding her place within Africa’s evolving music landscape.
“OBRASKETA” was produced and mixed by OYINLADE, whose work brings together the record’s rock-influenced character and its chant-driven vocal expression. The result is a song designed to make an impression through its energy, memorable refrain, and strong sense of identity.
The single follows Felicia’s earlier release, “You Do Me Something,” which has been gaining traction across streaming platforms. The release marks another step in her developing musical journey as she continues to introduce her sound to a wider audience.
