Davido Performs In Mayotte At Sold Out Concert – Country He Never Heard Of

Video of Davido’s performance in Mayotte, a region of France over the weekend, has brought another rather unpopular country among Nigerians, to the spotlight.

The singer announced his excitement at performing in a place where he says he had never heard of before he got booked for the event.

Taking to his social media pages, Davido posted:

‘Mayotte, Never heard of this place until we got booked to perform here ! Arrived two days before the show and had problem communicating with the people because of language barrier, even to order food nah wahala ! Touched that stage last night we all spoke the same language.”

Mayotte is a small country with a population of just over 200,000. The island is situated along the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and the coast of Mozambique.

It is an insular department and region of France officially named the Department of Mayotte, though traditional Mayotte culture is most closely related to that of the neighbouring Comoros islands, with the major languages on the island predominantly French and Malagasy.

This is not the first time that Davido will be performing in a place that is quite remote and unpopular to a number of Nigerians, as earlier in May, Davido had also performed at the little known country of Suriname in South America, where he sold out a concert that had over 10,000 fans in attendance.
